English requirement

At registration you need TOEFL iBT 84, PTE Academic 71 or ATU's own exam (YADYO) at 70; otherwise you take the English prep year. The requirement is waived if you graduated from a fully English-medium school in an English-speaking country. IELTS is not listed.

Admission requirements

You must be a high-school graduate or in your final year and hold a valid exam score. ATU does not list a diploma-only route. Accepted exams include:

  • SAT at least 1000/1600 (engineering and architecture: Math at least 500)
  • ACT at least 20, or IB at least 30
  • Abitur 2.5, French Baccalaureate 12/20, or three A-levels
  • TR-YÖS and listed national exams (see the official table)

Upload your exam result with a Turkish or English translation, diploma or expected-graduation letter, transcript, language certificate if any, passport copy and photo. A central commission publishes principal and reserve lists. At registration you bring originals, the equivalence (Denklik) certificate from a Turkish embassy or the Ministry of National Education, your student visa and the tuition receipt.

Master's and PhD

Graduate applicants need a related bachelor's degree, ALES 55 (or GRE/GMAT equivalent), and a language score of 50–80 depending on the program (for example Computer Engineering 80, Software Engineering 60, Electrical and Electronics 50). Foreign degrees need YÖK recognition or equivalence, and translations must be notarised. An integrated PhD after a bachelor's needs GPA 3.00/4 and ALES 80.

Scholarships

The 2026/27 call does not offer a tuition scholarship for new international students. Your best option is Türkiye Scholarships (10 January to 20 February), which covers tuition, housing, insurance, a flight and a monthly stipend. See our scholarships guide.

Settling in Adana

  • ATU's campus is in Sarıçam, Adana. Housing options are university dorms, state KYK dorms, private dorms and rented flats.
  • Apply for SGK General Health Insurance within 3 months of your first registration, or private insurance becomes compulsory.
  • Apply for your residence permit on e-İkamet while your visa is valid; the card fee is 964 TL from 1 January 2026.
  • Bachelor's students can work only with a work permit and only after their first year.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Wasting your single choice. You can apply to one program per period, so pick one where your score is comfortably above the minimum.
  • Applying with a diploma only. ATU's call lists exam-based admission, so get an SAT, ACT, IB, A-level, TR-YÖS or national exam score first.
  • Arriving without Denklik. The equivalence certificate is required at registration.
  • Assuming IELTS works. The listed English certificates are TOEFL iBT and PTE Academic.
