On this page
Boğaziçi University charges international students $500 per semester for master's and PhD programs, so a full year of graduate study costs $1,000 in tuition. Bachelor's degrees are a different story: $8,000 to $10,000 a year, much more than most Turkish state universities.
That is why Boğaziçi sits in this list mainly as a graduate choice. If you want an English-taught master's or PhD at a top state university in Istanbul, few places offer this price. If you want a cheap bachelor's, compare it with METU or Abdullah Gül University first.
Boğaziçi tuition fees for international students
| Program | Fee |
|---|---|
| Engineering | $10,000 per year |
| Economics and Administrative Sciences | $10,000 per year |
| Humanities and Social Sciences | $10,000 per year |
| English Preparatory Program | $10,000 per year |
| Science, Education, Law | $8,000 per year |
| Graduate programs (fall and spring) | $500 per semester ($1,000 per year) |
These amounts do not include accommodation or other expenses. Executive graduate programs, such as the Executive MBA, have their own fees.
No university scholarships
Boğaziçi states that it does not offer scholarships or financial aid to international students. Your main option is Türkiye Scholarships (applications 10 January to 20 February each year). See our scholarships guide.

Is a Boğaziçi bachelor's worth the price?
It depends on your budget. For a bachelor's, Boğaziçi's $10,000 a year for engineering compares with $2,400 a year at METU and $2,000 a year at Abdullah Gül University for 2026/27. Over four years plus a possible English prep year, the difference is large, and Boğaziçi offers no aid to international students.
For graduate study the picture flips. At $1,000 a year, a Boğaziçi master's costs about the same as Abdullah Gül's graduate fee and only a little more than METU's $750 a year. If you can meet the entry scores, a Boğaziçi master's or PhD is one of the best-value graduate options in Turkey.
Settling in Istanbul
- Housing: fees exclude accommodation. Options in Turkey are university dorms, state KYK dorms, private dorms and rented flats; state and university dorms are almost always gender-separated.
- Health insurance: apply for SGK General Health Insurance within 3 months of your first registration, or private insurance becomes compulsory.
- Residence permit: apply on e-İkamet after registration and while your visa is valid. The card fee is 964 TL from 1 January 2026.
- Work: master's and PhD students may work with a work permit from the Ministry of Labour; a student residence permit alone is not enough.
