Honest pros and cons
Benefits
- Moderate, clearly published international fees
- Late fall deadline (15 June 2027) and three intakes
- Low MSc tuition for international students
- Afghan certificates accepted with a published 65% minimum
Difficulties
- Smaller city than Calgary or Edmonton, with fewer jobs
- Programs can close early when full
- The application fee amount is not shown on the pages we checked
- Undergraduates need an Alberta PAL for the study permit
Who uLethbridge suits
uLethbridge suits students who want a full-size program list at a moderate price, especially in science, computer science, agriculture-related fields, health sciences and business. It is also a good fit if you are late in your planning, because the fall international deadline is in June. If you need a big-city job market during your studies, compare it with universities in Calgary or Edmonton, keeping in mind their higher fees.
Mistakes to avoid
- Waiting for the 15 June deadline. Programs may close early when full, and you still need time for the PAL, study permit and biometrics. Apply by 15 December if you want the Board of Governors Admission Scholarship.
- Mixing up graduate deadlines. The May second review and the 1 October winter deadline are for domestic applicants only; international graduate applicants use 15 January.
- Forgetting continuation fees. MSc tuition drops after three terms, but continuation fees of CAD 1,644.76 per term still apply.
- Sending only translations. uLethbridge asks for certified English translations plus the original-language documents.
- Using an old test. English results older than two years are not accepted.
