On this page
The University of Liège (ULiège) is a public French-speaking university where non-EU students can take a master's in English for French Community fees: €5,369 per year for most non-EU students in 2026/27, and only €1,194 for nationals of the countries listed by ARES, such as Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria. Its English-taught masters are concentrated in business (HEC Liège) and engineering.
This guide explains the fees, the English programs, the short application window and the scam warnings ULiège itself publishes.
Why ULiège is good value
ULiège has campuses in Liège, Gembloux and Arlon. As a French Community university, its fees follow the same law as UCLouvain and ULB.
- Business masters in English at HEC Liège: finance, marketing, supply chain, digital business and more.
- Engineering and computing in English: aerospace, mechanical, energy, electrical and computer science.
- Blocked-account deposit offered by ULiège itself to prove your means for the visa.
- Clear decision date: applications are processed by 30 June.
ULiège tuition fees for non-EU students
ULiège lists the 2026/27 full registration rate as €1,194. Under ARES Circular 2026-001, which applies to all French Community universities from 2026/27, non-EU students who are not assimilated to Belgians add a €4,175 supplementary contribution, unless their nationality is in Annexes 1 to 3.
| Nationality | Supplement? | Yearly fee |
|---|---|---|
| Annex 1 (e.g. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Ethiopia) | Exempt | €1,194 |
| Annex 2 (e.g. Pakistan, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya) | Exempt | €1,194 |
| Annex 3 (Lebanon) | Exempt | €1,194 |
| Other non-EU (e.g. India, Egypt, Iran, Morocco) | €4,175 | €5,369 |
We could not open ULiège's own non-EU fee page
ULiège's fee page lists the general rates but not the non-EU supplement; the amounts above come from the ARES circular that covers all French Community universities. Confirm your exact amount in your authorisation to enrol.
Non-EU applicants also pay a €200 administrative down payment to finalise the online application. It is deducted from your registration fee if you are admitted and not refunded otherwise. PhD and international co-degree students are exempt.
English-taught programs at ULiège
Most ULiège programs are in French, and there are no English-taught bachelors in the FindUniPath database. It lists 34 English-taught masters and 2 doctoral options. Some other masters are bilingual or only partly in English; we leave those out.

Admission requirements
- Master's: the faculty assesses your bachelor's for each master (access on file). There is no university-wide minimum grade.

- English: proof of English is expected for English-taught masters.
Apply yourself
ULiège warns that students, mainly from Cameroon, have been scammed by intermediaries, some of whom produced false documents. It also warns of fake solvency guarantors and recommends a blocked-account deposit instead. Never pay an agent to apply for you.
Application deadline
For the 2026/27 intake, the online form for non-EU (non-assimilated) applicants opened on 18 February 2026 and closed on 31 March 2026, with all applications processed by 30 June. The 2027/28 dates are not published yet. Watch the official outside-EU student page from January.
Scholarships
- ARES nationality exemption: saves €4,175 per year if you qualify.
- WBI MASTER IN grant: €10,020 over 12 months for a master's at a French Community institution; the 2026/27 deadline was 31 March 2026, after admission.
- ARES development-cooperation scholarships: exist for some nationalities; Afghanistan is not among the partner countries for 2027/28 international training scholarships.
Details are in our scholarships in Belgium guide.
Living in Liège
Study in Belgium estimates living costs in French-speaking Belgium at €1,000 to €1,300 per month, with rent around €575 including utilities. See the full budget in our cost of studying in Belgium guide.
Is ULiège right for you?
ULiège fits best if you already hold a bachelor's in business, economics, engineering or computer science and want a master's taught fully in English at a regulated public fee. It is a weaker fit if you need an English-taught bachelor, or if you cannot have your documents ready by the end of March.
- Good fit: applicants from ARES-listed countries, who pay €1,194 instead of €5,369.
- Good fit: students who want a business school master at public-university fees.
- Think twice: if you can only apply late in the year, because the 2026/27 window closed on 31 March.
- Think twice: if you are not ready to deal with daily life in French.
