On this page
Université Paris-Saclay is one of the cheapest ways for a non-EU student to take an English-taught master's in France. Its board has granted a partial exemption so that non-EU students pay the same fees as French students instead of the national non-EU rate of €3,950 a year for a master's (2026/27).
Add a very large English-taught catalogue, mostly in science, engineering, computing and life sciences, and you get one of the strongest value propositions in the country. Below you will find the fees, programs, deadlines and the exact steps to apply, with honest notes on what is still unconfirmed for 2027/28.
Why Paris-Saclay is good value for non-EU students
Since 2019, French public universities may charge non-EU students "differentiated" fees. For 2026/27 these are €2,902 a year for a bachelor's and €3,950 for a master's, according to Campus France. Paris-Saclay does not make you pay that difference.
- Fees at the domestic level: the university's tuition page says non-EU students subject to differentiated fees are eligible for a partial exemption under Board resolution CA-2026-013 of 3 February 2026, which brings their fees in line with those of domestic students.
- Huge English offer: 74 English-taught master's tracks are listed in our data, from artificial intelligence to nuclear engineering.
- Research environment: many tracks are international or Erasmus Mundus tracks run with research labs on the Saclay plateau and at sites such as Orsay and Évry.
- Location: you study in the Paris region, which helps with internships and jobs after graduation.
Tuition and fees for non-EU students
| Item | Amount | Year / source |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor (national rate) | €178 per year | 2025/26, university fee page |
| Master (national rate) | €254 per year | 2025/26, university fee page |
| Doctorate | €397 per year | 2025/26, university fee page |
| Standard non-EU master's fee without exemption | €3,950 per year | 2026/27, Campus France |
| CVEC (student life contribution) | €105 per year | 2026/27, Campus France |
The university's page still shows the 2025/26 national amounts and says 2026/27 fees are "coming soon". Fees can be paid in three instalments by card. Specific (non-national) diplomas have their own prices, so check the program page before you apply.
2027/28 is not confirmed yet
France changed its fee-waiver rules with Decree 2026-385 of 19 May 2026. Paris-Saclay's exemption is a board decision; the page does not say whether it will be renewed in the same form for 2027/28. Re-check the tuition fees page before you accept an offer.
English-taught programs at Paris-Saclay
All English-taught degrees are at master's level. First-year bachelor programs (L1) are taught in French. Most tracks start with an M1 year, and some accept you directly into M2 if you already have 240 ECTS. Examples from the official list of master's programs taught in English:
- Computer science: M1 Artificial Intelligence, M1 Data, Knowledge and Hybrid AI (DKAI), M1 Distributed, Parallel and Quantum Computing (DiPaQ), M1 Human-Computer Interaction
- Engineering and energy: M1 Energy (international track), M1 Mechanics (international track), M1 Electrical Engineering (international track), M1 Nuclear Engineering
- Physics: M1 General Physics, Erasmus Mundus LASCALA (accelerators and lasers), Erasmus Mundus QUARMEN (quantum)
- Life and health sciences: M1 GENIOMHE (genomics, informatics, maths and AI for health), M1 Development of Drugs and Health Products, international joint tracks in molecular biology, microbiology and neurosciences

Admission requirements
- Degree: for M1, a bachelor's (180 ECTS) in a relevant field; for M2, a validated M1 (240 ECTS) or equivalent. There is no university-wide minimum GPA; selection is on your academic record and class rank may be requested.
- English: a B2 (CEFR) certificate, or an official statement from your university that your bachelor's was taught entirely in English (accepted by some programs). French B1 is sometimes recommended but not mandatory.
- Documents: all transcripts since your high-school diploma, motivation letter, CV, English certificate, passport.
- Referees: if you have not been enrolled in French higher education in the last two academic years, you must give contact details of two academic referees.
Requirements differ between programs, so read the "Application requirements" box on each program page. Our France admission requirements guide explains degree recognition in more detail.
Deadlines: when to apply
Master's applications go through the university's own INCEPTION platform, and each program has its own window. For the 2026/27 intake, most windows opened between 15 January and early March 2026 and closed between mid-March and July 2026. For example, M1 Artificial Intelligence was open from 15 January to 16 March 2026. Some programs stayed open until 15 September 2026 or had a second window.
Windows for 2027/28 are not published yet. If last year's pattern repeats, the earliest programs will open in January 2027, so prepare your documents now.
Scholarships and funding
- Fee exemption: the partial exemption described above is the biggest saving, applied to non-EU students subject to differentiated fees.
- France Excellence Eiffel: €1,200 a month for master's students. You cannot apply yourself: the university nominates you, and institutions must submit by 6 January 2027 for 2027/28 (Campus France).
- Erasmus Mundus tracks: joint programs such as LASCALA and QUARMEN have their own consortium scholarships and calendars.
- University support: the university links to a scholarships page with further financial support.

Living costs in the Paris region
Low tuition does not mean a cheap year. For the visa you must show at least €877.50 per month (rule from 1 August 2026). Campus France gives an average CROUS student residence rent of about €450 a month in Paris, and private studios in Paris cost at least about €800, according to the figures summarised on Service-Public. Budget for transport between campus sites, too. Our cost of studying in France guide has a full budget.
Applying from Afghanistan
Two routes, check both
Paris-Saclay says Afghanistan is not an Études en France country, so Afghan residents apply directly on INCEPTION. However, the French government's 2027 scholarship call for Afghan applicants says people living in Afghanistan apply through the Campus France sites of the French embassies in India, Iran or Pakistan and the Études en France platform, and only those embassies issue student visas to them. Confirm with the university and the Campus France office before you pay any fee. Afghan documents need full legalization because Afghanistan is not in the apostille system; see our documents and legalization guide.
